Summer 2023
In the summer of 2023, I joined a teaching volunteer program in Guilin, where I tutored local elementary students in mathematics. For many of these children, math wasn’t just a subject — it was a bridge to opportunities beyond their small towns.

During my time there, I prepared lessons, explained concepts patiently, and tried different ways to make abstract ideas more approachable. But what stayed with me most were not the contents on the board — it was the curiosity in their eyes, the moments when a difficult problem finally clicked, and the genuine joy that learning brought to the classroom.

This experience deepened my understanding of education as both a skill and a responsibility. It taught me to listen more, to adapt to different learners, and to value the impact of small actions in someone else’s life.
