With the rollout of the farmland prescription app, local farmers needed guidance to fully utilize its features. The app was designed to generate tailored prescriptions—covering fertilizer use, irrigation scheduling, and crop variety selection—based on the farmer’s inputs such as land location, soil conditions, and current planting stage.
As a volunteer, I worked closely with farmers to help them bridge the gap between traditional practices and digital tools. My responsibilities included:
Hands-on training: I organized group workshops where I demonstrated how to input field data into the app and generate fertilizer or irrigation prescriptions. Each step—from logging in, to selecting crop types, to reading recommendation outputs—was broken down into simple actions that farmers could easily follow.
One-on-one support: Beyond group sessions, I provided individualized guidance to farmers. I answered practical questions like how to adjust fertilizer dosage according to the prescription, or how to interpret irrigation schedules based on soil moisture data.
Daily assistance and strategy advice: In addition to solving operational problems, I shared insights from data analysis to suggest optimized planting strategies. By combining digital recommendations with local knowledge, I helped farmers make more confident decisions that could improve yields.
Through this volunteer service, I saw how technology becomes meaningful only when it is made accessible. Empowering farmers to use the app independently meant they could benefit from smarter fertilization, efficient irrigation, and improved productivity, turning digital agriculture into a practical reality.
