Bringing Local Specialties to the Spotlight: My First E-commerce Data Analysis

Early in my e-commerce journey, one question puzzled me: why do some local products sell out online while others languish? The answer was hidden in the data.

  • Data mining: Using Python crawlers and Excel, I extracted product sales, customer reviews, and interaction metrics from platforms like Douyin.

  • Interpreting consumer preferences: Analysis showed clear differences — southeastern customers favored aesthetic small packages, while northern customers valued quantity and affordability.

  • Empowering decisions: I presented these insights in enterprise incubation meetings and created visual reports to help government and business leaders allocate resources more effectively.

This was my first time uncovering patterns in messy data to influence real business outcomes — planting a seed for my future in data-driven decision-making.
